Things I learned at AVCon this weekend.

1. Ther are many geeks in Adelaide
2. I have a slight element of geek
3. Kilkenny beer is foul
4. IKEA chocolate is dangerously addictive
5. I know way too much about monopoly and the colours of the properties on the board
6. Much money can be spent on a single Azumanga Daioh picture/sketch
7. There are many subgenres of lolita including pirate lolita, cute lolita, kuro lolita, gothic lolita, punk lolita, cosplay lolita etc etc.
8. Bad lace looks like grandmas curtains and there is no substitute for good lace when making your own lolita outfit.
9. Japanese train simulators are NOT cool
10 Narutards are also not cool
11. Batman jokes get old very quickly and are generally not funny
12. Anime is AWESOME!!!

Overall a rather educational experience

I got a perfect score for my lastest accounting exam. My boss suggested I enrol in uni since I'm blitzing TAFE.

I only lost 1 mark all semester and that was due to an ambiguous question.

After interviews , IQ testing and personality testing I scored a new job. Well, it's the job I have been doing for the past year but this makes it official. I even managed to negotiate a nice little pay rise. I'm now an Assistant Financial Accountant.

Horrendous Friday

Yesterday was shocking.

Went to Union to discover it has been taken over by older peoples.

Went to KFC and waited 30mins for a f&%$#ng twister, got free popcorn chicken because of wait. Was still crap considering the children out the back were drinking juice and not actually cooking. I gave them a spray for that. There were also other people waiting long times for very simple orders.

Went to Belgium and ate some mussels (probably a bad idsea in hindsight). Approached kikis but was given the cold shoulder.

Went to friends city apartment. Made too strong drinks. Tried to pick up from the balcony yelling ph numbers to those walking past.

World was spinning too much so I vomited.

Missed the last bus (by about 2 hours) so had to pay $22 for taxi. Taxi driver had to help me pick the right coloured note from my wallet (be scared that I'm trying to become an accountant).

Made it inside house and fell asleep.

Today the world is still spinning. I don't know whether I'm still drunk or just lacking food and nutrients.

Dentist

Today I went to the dentist. Cost me $180 for 1 full hour of torture. FIllings on wisdom teeth are not fun. The dentist gave me 2 needles of anaesthetic, almost gave me a 3rd. Dentist said afterwards "That was difficult dentistry" and he seemed proud to have done it. Now he retires in 3 weeks and I get a new dentist.

At work I've been made captain of our team for the Global Corporate Challenge. Its a walking challenge where your team has to walk the equivalent number of steps as it would take to walk around the world. Progress is recorded on a website. Anyway, we get all this free stuff like pedometers and hats.

To make a long story short I was "nominated" as team captain, mostly due to the list being in alphabetical order and the name at the top is made captain by default. So I have to organise the team. I was trying to think of names determined not to use any of the usual unfunny lame names that are used in these types of events. I considered "Team Sea Slug" but nobody understood even though I thought it was hilarious. Then I thought of "Red Raccoon Dog" for similar reasons people didn't understand this. Finally I made an executive decision and named the team "Team Yamapikaryaa" which happily fulfils my need for an Azumanga Daioh connection yet still makes some kind of sense. Its a cat and it must do a lot of walking on Iriomote Island.

In conclusion I'm captain of team Yamapikaryaa.

At least now I'll have something to put in the leadership saection of my nexy performance review.

Buddha Bar Buddha Bar

I ended up going out last night after all.

It was Buddha Bars 1st birthday so it was quite popular. I pretended to be part of another group so got in quickly and for free (saving $10).

Inside was quite fun. At one stage I almost got involved in a fight. These 2 guys were smashing each other right infront of me and then everyone started throwing punches. Luckily security was able to stop it and throw the offenders out. Last week was police, this week punch ups, this bar is a bit dangerous. Anyway, now I might be on the Buddha Bar mailing list so hopefully they can give me special deals.

By 3am it was time to leave and I caught the bus home in the pouring rain.

End of story.

This weeknd was full of potential but was never realised..

Thursday - Got a booty call, refused due to having to go out friday night and lack of money.

Friday - School reunion. 4 people showed up and only went until 10pm with everyone else being not as alcoholic as me.

Saturday (Tonight) - Kiki birthday at Buddha bar but friend who I was going with looks like he's not going (still waiitng for sure though).

Sunday - Nothing planned/study for exam.

What a crappy/boring long weeknd.

Went out to gouger st at 10:28pm.

Went to bnar. It was full of home boys and rappers. not good. Was scanned and groped before getting in.

Had 1 drink and left.

Went to bottle shop. bought jim beaqm.

consumed jim beam in alleyway with coke. Discarded used glasses on Alpha Romeo, here is proof

Went to Buddha bar. $10 each to get in. I paid for 2. $20 bugger.

Danced with many kikis, alas n0one interested. all taken. bugger.

bonded in mens toilets with other men as must be done.

bought superman drink because i am superman.

casino. line up. wtf. they checked jeans for signs of frayage. i passed through some devious fray hidage tactics. casino was shit. totelly empty due to overy strict dress code. once again wtf?

Left and caught bus home. this guy kept spitting on me. idiot.

waited 45mins for bus at 4:45am

rode bus and got off at wrong stop. whoops.

15 min walk turned into 45 min walk after getting completely lost and being blocked by a river. I live is the wosrts place.

In conclusion... no kikis tonight. alas, poor me.

Another friday night full of hilarity.

Started at the Union. Offered to take photos of kikis. Denied
Made fantastic puns with girls eating steaks. "We're raising the steaks (while lifting the plates up)". "Lettuce make many more puns (while pointing to a lettuce leaf)". "We've hit the wall (while leaning against the wall)" Gold! However, did not take.

Went to Japanese restaurant agian. Waitress remembered us from months ago. Still no chu hi in stock. Not even plain shochu. Also educated them about habusaki. Oredered takoyaki & Soba noodles. Once again impressed waitress with japanese and random acts of stupidity.

Sold sushi to randoms. $4 sushi, $6 sashimi. freshest in Adelaide i said. Resulted in a few sales. Alas, no comissions were paid. Was quite hilarious for us to be spruiking sushi on hindley st.

Found another random kiki. Tied her shoelaces. Then got the brush off from her friend. Bah I say. Shoelaces are important. Or else you trip and your shoes fall off!

Buddha Bar. Met some more kikis. They gave us vodka drinks. We got invited the their karaoke birthday next week. May actually show up. Met girl wearing sailor suit, dream come true.

Tomorrow. Maybe buddha bar again. The next week is kiki birthdaqy with karoke and sailor suits!!!! JAckpot!

This is Takoyaki version 3.0

Batter:
Flour
Water
Miso stock
Milk
Egg
Nori powder

Inside:
Tinned prawns
Snow pea sprouts
Pickled Ginger

Topping:
Kewpie Mayonaise
Worstershire Sauce

Results:
A much more evenly cooked ball. Tasty, but would have improved with fresh prawns. Next time will use more batter as some of these balls turned out hollow. Need to find Takoyaki sauce and bonito shavings for traditional topping.

Fake Takoyaki

After my last takoyaki making disaster I had another go. This time i used a more basic recipe of water, flour, & 1 egg. I put a piece of cheese inside each ball.Can't say they taste any good but at least they are ball shaped. Next to try with better ingredients.

Apparantly I am a member of the Tokyo International Club. I just got invited to a party with free food and free booze in Tokyo... but its tonight so I don't think I'll make it in time. I have no idea how they got my email address.

Anyway,
Last night had a work party. Very dangerous, alcohol was supplied and it was self serve bar. I had my first 5 beers within an hour. In the end I ended up hanging out with IT people at the Marble bar and annoyed them with questions why my miscosoft office won't work in between puffing on cigarettes and consuming glasses of red wine (classy!). After being kicked out of Marble bar I went to Savvy with some random people that I just met, got kicked out of there. Went to Zhivago for a bit, somehow after that I ended up in Norwood. Arrived home at midday today.

I hope i didn't make too much of an arse out of myself infront of work colleagues.

Today I went fishing. 5 hours sitting in a boat catching nothing = not fun.

Then I went for a bike ride for the first time since I fell off months ago. This was a pathetic attempt at burning off some of the fat that has accumulated over the past weeks. I don't think it worked.

I had the fantastic idea of reviving the old tradition of vodka shots in the parklands. Alas, everyone was busy/antisocial. I also had plans for karaoke.

Instead spent a few hours at the Union. No luck. Got some food at Japanese restaurant in Hindley street, totemo ooishi. Had takoyaki, gouya, sushi & sashimi. Impressed waitress with knowledge of japanese and managed to order in japanese. They sell Chu Hi but were sold out. Instead had sake!

Moved on to the opening of the Adelaide festival, met 2 japanese, 1 chinese, 4 americans (who did not know keith or any marines or navy people), & 4 thai, all good talking to but alas no action.

Moved on to Karaoke only to find every karaoke place in the city closed WTF??? Peed in Berkley hotel, the most bogan place in Adelaide (way more bogan than the woolshed), the toilet doors didn't close am I'm certian people at the bar could watch me peeing.

Moved on to Casino, got some action points and won $7 on poker machines. Balcony bar had shit music and was full of old people.

In conclusion some highlights and didn't disgrace myself too much.

People, I'm going to organise traditional parklands vodka shots when everyone is available, let me know your dates.

Drunken Debauchery

It's friday night and everyone knows what that means... Peter goes out an disgraces himself in the city of Adelaide!

Tonight.
1. Tried the line "Did you fart... because you blew me away." as suggested by work colleague. Rejected 3 times.
2. Tried the line "Is your Dad a fruiterer... because you have nice melons." Denied 3 times also.
3. Went around Beligian Beer Cafe with female friend convincing people to let me take a photo and get a phone number for a comeptition... resulting in 9 photos and 9 fake phone numbers.
4. Found a guy wearing same shirt as mine except saying Tennoji. I went off at hime because he hadn't been to Tennoji and didn't even know where it was!
5. Found a guy wearing same shirt as mine except saying Harajuku. I went off at him for not going to Harajuku and he didn't even know where it was!
6. Found ex Nova teacher and talked Japanese to her for a while. I knew words she didn't. Unagi!
7. Realised I had missed my last bus home and I was on a budget so I walked home... only took me 2 hours!

So it seems I am finding new and exciting ways to be rejected by Adelaide women. Need new ideas on what to try next week.

I think I need to look places other than shitty bars.

Went to Boho. Twas fairly crap, did meet nice Korean lady who knew nothing about her national sport archery! Then moved to Lotus lounge, was also fairly crap. Got a lecture from female (again) how to pick up stop acting like yourself etc etc. Fuck this I'll act however I want to.

I saw 2 guys wearing the exact same shirt as me. One was coming out of the mars bar and another was a bit fat guy walking down the street.

The only good thing really is I stuck to my budget so savings plan is on track.

Today in the city I saw this homeless looking guy go completely off his nut at these two asian guys. He was all "You're in F$%^#$ australia so speak F%&%^$*& English!!!" yelling as loud as he could. What a dickhead. I would have said something but the guy looked completely nuts and he might have become violent. Luckily the asians just walked away but it made me think that there are a lot of dickheads around especially in Australia.

And the disgraces continue...

I was good most of the night only commenting on the appearance of women from where they couldn't hear my obscenely sexist remarks. Did not approach strangers with racist lines, actually did not approach anybody with any lines. Now I feel all antisocial.

I had a moment of weakness at the casino where I fell madly in love with one of the bar staff named Kimberley. I made her an origami boat and presented it to her. It was a beautiful moment. Then she left to serve people drinks. Its a story of new love and heartbreak. Someone should write a country song about it.

I'm off to cry myself to sleep :`-(
